Founded in 1935, the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Experimental Cinematography Centre) is the most important Italian institution for training, research and experimentation in the field of cinema. The Scuola Nazionale di Cinema (National Film School), which is part of the Centro Sperimentale, is dedicated to training students in cinema-related professions, including directing, scriptwriting, acting, photography, editing, sound techniques, etc. Various specialized courses are available at the school’s regional centers. Students can study animation at the Piedmont school, audiovisual communication and journalism at the Abruzzo school, while the Sicily school runs courses in documentary.
