An experimental video that collapses car traffic time and reorganizes it by color to reveal patterns and people’s preferences.
Cy Kuckenbaker is a filmmaker and photographer based in San Diego, California. He’s been working on a number of interesting experimental videos, playing with time and reorganizing elements through editing and compositing with the goal of revealing otherwise unobservable rhythms and movement in the city.
In this short, labeled “Midday Traffic Time Collapsed and Reorganized by Color: San Diego Study #3”, he captured 4 minutes of footage from a San Diego highway with the aim to reveal the color palette and color preferences of contemporary San Diego drivers, in addition to traffic patterns and volumes.
