"A little street girl discovers the magic and dangers of an ogre's kitchen."
Al Dente is a short film produced at Supinfocom Valenciennes that is staged in an ogre’s kitchen and features a playful mise-en-scene with plenty of non-realistic staging elements and music-driven choreographed sequences. The stylized staging brings reminiscences of early Disney and Warner Brothers cartoons (the authors used early Disney movies as one of their main references).
Al Dente features impressive art and character design, beautiful aesthetics with great attention to color, lighting and composition, opera music especially composed for the short and a subject that deals with food, supernatural elements and children.
The authors dedicated special effort to developing the script, with story writing and pre-production taking around 6 months and the production itself another 6 months.
