"A sound-driven short with playful use of falling objects synchronized to produce rhythm."
Gravity is a short film by Montreal-based artist Renaud Hallée, known for his experimental shorts that focus on music-driven sequences. In the case of Gravity, falling objects are synchronized to produce rhythm. There are no conflicts, story or characters present.
The short makes interesting use of objects, re-signifying them and employing them for creating sound. The staging is simple and minimalist, uses urban/household elements, but is very creative and manages to surprise the viewer. One can tell that the filmmaker was having fun during the production process.
Gravity uses a realistic aesthetic but through fades and cuts (which were intentionally left that way by the artist) it’s easy to perceive the stitches left by editing and compositing.
