It’s My Water!

"A cheetah refuses to share water from a lake."

 Note

The film is spoken in French and doesn’t have subtitles, but can hopefully be understood without them.

Created by Lisa Matuszak at French school La Poudrière, “It’s My Water!” is a short film that features one main character, a crowd of animals, an external conflict and a focus on environmentalism and the importance of sharing resources. The film is aimed at kids and was produced for a related contest.

Staged in the savannah, the short places an emphasis on comedy, presenting the scare tactics of a cheetah that is obsessed with keeping a lake as private property. Sound, music, surprise and a change in POV are creatively used to create comedic situations.

Other highlights of “It’s My Water!” include the stylized aesthetic, animation style and the playful use of music, staging and iconography that introduce an unexpected change of tone towards the end of the film.
