Myosis

"A struggle takes place as identities change while moving from the private to the work space."

Myosis is an intense short film created by five artists at French school Gobelins about a man who fights an internal battle to avoid losing his identity, love and dreams. Using traditional animation techniques and non-realistic staging, its images depict a strong internal conflict that takes place in modern urban life. Wide shots are employed along with repetitive visual elements to portray the de-humanization that takes place as people move from the private space to their work environments (or “the system”, if you may).

A number of flashbacks and changes in subjectivity in narration help provide tension to the conflict of the main character. The quality of animation in Myosis is excellent, as is expected by now from shorts coming from Gobelins.
