"What does surfing mean to surfers? This 'ode to the wave' features spectacular underwater visuals of waves, the unsung heroes of surfing."
This non-narrative documentary short by Dan Bennington, a surfer from Australia, aims to transmit what surfing means for surfers. The film features some wonderful underwater shots of waves. The visual rhythm produced by the shifting colors, air trails, wave surface textures, refraction and the fluid movement of the water makes for some spectacular visuals, and provides an unusual POV on the subject.
The footage was shot with GoPro cameras, a testimony of how technology advancements to the old camera obscura are allowing to obtain images that were previously impossible.
