Take Life As It Comes

Take Life As It Comes is a short film created by French artist Hélène Marchal that features wonderful non-realistic colors (in the vivid style of Fauvism) and mixes 3D animation with a natural media, non-photorealistic aesthetic. According to the artist many marker pens were used in the making of the film.

Sound has a high index of materiality and is used to advance the narrative, create ellipses, as well as to help build the environment. Static cameras are employed with much of the visual rhythm provided by the painterly aesthetic.

The main point of the film is the great potential conflict with the environment that is avoided due to the character’s attitude, who chooses to adapt and enjoy the situation.

Take Life As It Comes was made as an exercise at Supinfocom Valenciennes, which had the premise of illustrating a popular saying.
