Terminus is a highly psychological short film written by Canadian artists Jason and Trevor Cawood that deals with stress and the personal demons we pretend to ignore.
Staged in urban locations and permeated by dark humor, the film’s aesthetic emulates one from a Super 8 film from the 1970s.
Presenting a strong internal conflict narrated with a high level of subjectivity, Terminus uses claustrophobic framing, handheld cameras and unsettling sounds to help transmit the stress the main character goes through. His psychological maladies are transposed into a stone character: according to the director the non-human characters in the film are “metaphors for anxiety”.
Terminus deals with the stress produced by modern life and relies heavily on VFX, surreal and oniric elements, and complements them with sound to give them materiality in the film.
