The Jump

"A story about spirits and playing with the supernatural."

Age: 13+

The Jump is a short film conceived as part of the Ghost Stories compilation created by the indie animators group Late Night Work Club. It was created by US-based animator Charles Huettner and presents a story of two main characters staged in an urban environment with a supernatural theme.

Using a stylized aesthetic, The Jump makes interesting use of flashbacks, subjectivity in narration, sound, repetition and metamorphosis of elements in animation. Its clever use of POV, ellipsis and change of camera angle (1m55) allows it to converge the paths of the two characters and introduce an element of surprise.

The Late Night Work Club project, which acted as a trigger for the artist to produce this film, brings together independent animators from different countries to create collective work. Their effort is commendable, we recommend taking a look at their website.
