"A young woman has to deal with a werewolf father, an ex-jazz trumpeter who is lost in his musical wilderness."
Age: 18+
Two main characters, a focus on a father-daughter relationship, strong internal conflicts and a metamorphosis compose Untamed, a short film created by students from Viborg-based The Animation Workshop.
Two-shots and close-ups abound, to portray the problems in the relationship and the actions and expressions of the characters. An internal self-destructive psychological struggle is turned into a werewolf character.
Staged in an urban location, a lot of effort has been dedicated to the aesthetic of the film, including expressive use of lighting, color, composition and framing. Visual rhythm is usually low, but is increased for good effect in sequences with strong emotional displacement. The continuous presence of music, the playful non-diegetic inserts and the sequences with stylized, non-realistic staging (such as the one of the girl running away) help potentiate the metaphorical meaning of the short.
