"Ena, a passionate firefighter and wife, is very involved in her profession."

Wildfire is a short film about a firefighter who has an uncommon fascination with fire. Three main characters, an internal conflict and an emphasis on character psychology compose this unsettling short from Parisian school Gobelins.
Staged in two main locations, nature and urban, Wildfire makes wonderful use of sensory images, combining animation, sound and a stylized aesthetic (with a palette of warm colors) to recreate a forest fire.
Also worth noting are the jumps in subjectivity (the abrupt change from the interior narrative of the woman to the child blowing the candles is especially effective), the effort dedicated to image composition, the research done on firefighter’s work and the creative visual depiction of the character’s internal conflict.
Wildfire leaves the door open to multiple interpretations, and its use of fire, an element all humans are fascinated by at some point (especially children) makes it more effective in connecting with the audience.
