"A tribute to the art of M.C. Escher."
Note
This film will be of most interest to those who enjoy Escher’s work, surrealism or art theory in general. It is not aimed at a casual audience.
Cristóbal Vila is a Spanish artist who has focused much of his 3D work on the combination of art and mathematics. In this animation and personal tribute to Dutch artist M.C. Escher, he explores what his workplace could look like. Images are marked by Escher’s motives: metamorphosis, infinite loops, tricks of perception and perspective, symmetry and a strong mathematics component.
The film is made in one long take with no editing. A hovering camera with a descriptive aim tours around M.C. Escher’s art studio as imagined by the author of the film, who staged it with a good number of elements from Escher’s work and added life to many of them.
