"A young woman waiting for the bus sees her daily habit interrupted by a man."
Bus Stop is a short film directed by four students at Bellecour Ecoles d’Art about the evolving relationship between a man and a woman.
Static camera, an urban setting and two characters compose this short that deals with the subject of internal pending debts and those things that are regrettably left unsaid in life.
Editing is handled through the device of using buses traversing the frame, with some experimenting done at 2m24, fragmenting the frame and creating “spatial” montage. Ellipsis is also used in a number of sequences in Bus Stop, showing jumps in time of several days or weeks, with variations in season and weather, which are incorporated into the narrative.
There’s a lot of attention dedicated to gestures and expressions to transmit the intentions of the characters, as well as to the stylized aesthetic and the staging of the short.
