NYE Times Square

A team effort from NY-based The Timelapse Group has resulted in this great timelapse video of the New Year’s eve celebrations that took place recently in the beautiful city of New York.

The urban nature of the landscape provides great contrast with nature-based timelapses. The images are filled with textures, colors and light. Visual rhythm within the frame is notably fast, and also varies greatly, due to the differing speed of the elements in the frame. Displays change at a lightning pace and the movement of cars, crowds and other elements reflect the complex patterns and speed of modern society.

Cameras are usually static (with a few exceptions) and visual rhythm is handled through editing or movements within the frame (plus the increasing pace of the music). Also worth noting are the wonderful color palettes that form thanks to the different colors of the city lights.
