Pfffirate

"An inflatable pirate sees his tranquility threatened by a mechanic bird."

Pfffirate is a short film comedy by Guillaume Hérent and Xavier André about an inflatable pirate who tries to preserve his ship from unexpected threats. The film was produced in 9 months by only two artists at French school Supinfocom Valenciennes.

A clearly defined main external conflict (triggered by the internal conflict of the bird) is established through the stylized aesthetics of the inflatable objects and the shape of the mechanic bird.

Sound plays a key role in helping transmit the sensation of the air-filled objects and the metal fabric of the bird. A saturated palette of vibrant colors is used in a world composed of a few elements, with staging set in the sea.

Continuity is broken for comedic effect when the bird is being bombarded by balls shot from the inflatable canon.
